Mobile App Engineering Internship

The Odd Institute has an exciting remote mobile app development internship opportunity. The internship is designed as an opportunity to jumpstart your mobile app career and grow and produce a strong Github portfolio. Interns will work on real-world projects in collaboration with team members, instructors, and mentors. You’ll be empowered to bring a solution to life while working on cutting-edge technology. As an educational company, we strongly believe in a learn-it-all rather than know-it-all and are centered around research and finding the most appropriate solutions. 

Responsibilities

Mobile app engineering interns work with teammates to solve problems and build innovative software solutions. As an app engineer, you are dedicated to designing, developing, and testing next-generation software that will empower people. You will also have the opportunity to learn and adopt relevant new technologies, tools, methods, or processes to leverage in your solutions. 

 Qualifications

  • Six months of programming experience in at least one modern language such as C#, JS, Swift, Java, or Kotlin,
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of computer science fundamentals, including object-oriented design,
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related field (preferred),
  • Experience with shipped mobile apps (preferred), 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills,
  • Experience in native mobile app development environments (Xcode or Android Studio) is preferred, 
  • Experience with Git and Github is preferred.

As a software engineer, you will:

  • Design and iterate on specific solutions (that you can include as open-source content on your Github profile). 
  • You will earn structured/productive developer experience. 
  • Influence the direction of development through your research and expertise.
  • Advocate for state-of-the-art principles and theories of development and mobile industry trends.
  • Participate in design and architecture reviews on solutions.
  • Wear many hats, and work in a highly collaborative environment that will prepare you for start-up or large organization environments.
